Iron Sharpens Iron Internship Program (ISIIP) is a 16 week apprenticeship program where students gain access to real, practical opportunities for the application of their academic studies and business-related skills.

Through a partnership with participating companies, industry professionals engage students to work on the companies’ short-term projects in return for the practical experience that the students gain. There are cohorts of student interns in the spring only at this time. The program is open to high school, undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in an accredited course of study.

Availability is based on participation of businesses local to the student. Placement takes place by the 1st full week following the MLK holiday in January. Volunteer opportunities for community service hours are year round.

In School Stomach, Inc serves as a facilitator to ensure work ethic, industry standards, and leadership expectations are being met.

Intern Requirements:

  • 4 hours weekly minimum
  • professional portfolio maintained
  • progress check at 30, 60, and 90 day intervals
  • final presentation (rubric provided during 1st 30 day progress check)

A successful internship experience is rewarded with a certificate of completion during awards ceremony in May.
